About Us
Who is the Minneapolis Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities?
The MACOPD is an award-winning group of 15 committed citizens in Minneapolis
who have created this video, so that better accessibility can be achieved
for everyone in the city of Minneapolis.
The Mpls committee won the National Organization on Disability (NOD)award
grand prize for community involvement ih 1996, 1998, and received third
place in 1999.
Goals Of Minneapolis Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities
- To improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities
in the City of Minneapolis by ensuring access to employment, education,
housing, retail, entertainment and recreational opportunities;
- To improve relationships between public and private entities,
therefore expanding employment and consumer opportunities for all members of the
community;
- To improve physical and program access to all city services, programs,
benefits and activities for individuals with disabilities, and
- To educate and serve as a resource to the City of Minneapolis
on issues related to disabilities.
